Tanpesca Ltd, was incorporated on 2nd March 1998 as Limited Liability Company in Tanzania, with the objective of carrying out the business of processing and export of sea food products such as prawns, lobsters, octopus, squid and other Indian Ocean seafood off the coast of Tanzania.
Tanpesca owns and operates a land based processing facility in Mafia Island for processing and freezing of marine and sea products off the coast of Mafia Island, Tanzania.
It operates three - 18 meter and three – 25 meter prawn trawling factory vessels off the coast of Tanzania (Victoria IV,V,VI, Jackpot, Angler, Akshay). Tanpesca is in the process of rapid expansion of its activities and is expected to be a major contributor to the growth of Alpha Group turnover. The trawlers are fully geared to operate in Shallow and Deep Sea fishing. Depending on the fishing season the trawlers operate in Shallow or Deep waters.
Tanpesca also operates a refrigerated factory barge for collection, processing and freezing of Prawns and Octopus off the coast of Mafia Island, Tanzania. The Company owns collection boats for collection of fresh catches from Local fisherman's and delivery to the factory for processing. Tanpesca has its collection centers spread out to various locations within
Tanzania. Which are - Mafia, Kilwa-Kivinje, Lindi, Tanga, Mtwara Pangani, Kilwa, Bagamoyo, Zanzibar and Pemba.
