Musoma Fish Processors Ltd (MFPL), was incorporated on 8th April 1997 as a Limited Liability Company in Tanzania, with the objective of processing and exporting Nile Perch Fillets. This plant has been established for the purpose of development of value added products suitable for the supermarket and retail outlet distribution. The installed capacity of the plant is 6,000 MT of fish fillet per annum.

The Group has originally negotiated for this plant, a long-term development loan from the International Finance Corporation (I.F.C.), the commercial arm of the World Bank. This loan was subsequently replaced with a term loan from NBC Ltd, to achieve lower borrowing costs. This processing facility, in due course, will be geared more towards manufacturing value added Nile Perch products like pre-packed portions, breaded and battered products, ready for retail distribution worldwide.

Musoma Fish Processors Limited, implemented Alpha Tanzania Sustainable Nile Perch Fishery Project Musoma in the lake Victoria zone. The project was started in the May 2011.This project are in total of 573 fisherman operating from four landing site.

Musoma Fish Processors Limited will continually train fish supplier, fishermen and workers to ensure increased and sustainable fish production by managing capture of lake Victoria Perch; adopting legal gears for fishing.

We have appointed the Project Manager as the sustainability coordinator , who has responsibility for ensuring ongoing fish harvest practises done by using legal gears, identification of risk factors, recording and monitoring of impacts and implementing Naturland and local government sustainability measures.

Musoma Fish Processors Limited will also train her workers for maximum utilization of captured fish by enhancing yield of products; promoting value added and restructured foods, utilizing waste and reducing post harvest losses. Musoma Fish Processors Limited is the producer and its product certified by a Naturland to meet project specific environmental, social and economic standards.
