Single point mooring system at the Tanzania Ports Authority (Dar es Sallam)
Alpha Logistics have been awarded works for installing a new pipeline, trenching and Dredging works by Leighton. The Tanzania SPM Replacement Project was awarded the contract by the Tanzaina Ports Authority to Leighton.
The key elements of the works are:
• Project Management, Design, Engineering, Procurement & Construction
• Met Ocean Study
• Site Surveys
• Fabrication and Installation of SPM System
• Procurement and Installation of Offshore pipelines
• Procurement and Installation of Onshore pipelines
• Testing and Pre-commissioning of the system
• Removal of existing SPM System
• Removal of existing onshore pipeline
The pipeline diameters are 28-inch for the crude line and 24-inch for the white product line, with indicative onshore and offshore lengths of 4.5 km and 4 km respectively.
A stringing yard will be set up at the landfall point and pipe strings will be pulled offshore by bottom pull method with a linear winch set up on Leighton Mynx work barge.
A key challenge to the installation of pipeline will be trenching through intertidal zone and crossing the reef at approximately 2 km away from the beach.
